This katana blade is crafted from high carbon steel that has been folded and hand-forged, a traditional process that refines the steel and produces a distinctive surface grain. The folding technique reveals a masame-hada (straight grain pattern), giving the blade both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

The blade undergoes clay tempering (differential hardening), creating a hardened edge with a resilient spine for an ideal balance of sharpness and toughness. The polish is done with attention to detail: the edge area is refined to a misty white finish, while the shinogi-ji (ridge surface) is polished to a mirror shine. This contrast highlights the hamon line, which flows beautifully along the blade. The cutting edge is razor-sharp, capable of precise and clean cuts.
